  1. You know how I feel. Have a good cry. Double D!!!!
  2. I am so happy for you .......still on the prayer list!
  3. Isn't it amazing how they think they own your office. They always have to be lying on the paperwork that you need at the moment and putting their scent on everything. Last thing before bed every night, my Annie has to check the office out. OR, if I work too late she comes and keeps nudging my back to let me know that (in her mind) it is time to quit. I'll never be without a cat again.
  4. They are so small and helpless and we love them to death. It just breaks ones heart.
  5. The first time I open it , it takes a while. After that it is pretty decent. Also, I agree that later in the day things really slow down. I guess a person needs to shut down and reload around 1:00....but, we shouldn't need to do this at this early stage. I only have 96 returns open so far. Just before I exited for the night, I found that I was unable to roll over my returns for tomorrow. Ouch! That never happened before.
  6. It is extra security that doesn't come up often, but the answers were input a long time ago to a series of questions.
  7. I hope it didn't "blind" you JB. I am still smiling about that one.
  8. So far, so good with 12.9. It fixed some issues for me. I am stand alone Win 7 64 bit, 16 G Ram.
  9. The other option is to check the box at the top of the State e-file info sheet. It says disconnect state from federal MeF file (or words to that effect.) I actually like that better than the hold because I am nervous about holdin the state return and forgetting to file it.
  10. Our Siamese kitten who grew up with our boys lived to be 22 before she died of feline leukemia. The next one we had for fifteen years and because she was a stray, we don't know how old she was. We had to put her down because of kidney failure. My husband said "Never again!!!!!!!!!!!" and I held out for about a year and started looking. A beautiful Calico put her hex on me at the Humane Society and he finally gave in. Annie has now been with us for about five years and is spoiled beyond words. BUT, we saved her life and she is probably saving ours. IN addition, she thinks that we built this office addition just for her. She also lays claim to all of our Real Estate as well as our hearts.
  11. Rita, you are so awesome, but I am still going to send you all of my clients from hell.
  12. i before e, except after c, or when sounding like a, as in neighbor and weigh. EXCEPTIONS: Neither leisure foreighner seized the WEIRD heights. (This is so drilled into my head from 8 years at a Parochial grade school. We are all just getting weirder and weirder.
  13. It isn't even March yet and I am wrung out. Even when I get to sleep, I wake up with six tax returns dancing in my head. Finally got a girl (client) yesterday to come in and help me with some bookkeeping and filing, etc. Even a couple hours of help is massive at this point. Would never trust anyone to work with this program in my office. I know I have to check everything and now it is causing blindness. Thanks JB for the heads up and the smile. Joan, anything we can do to help?
  14. I agree.........add up everything before putting the return together. Who ever said that we were perfect at data entry, etc. I NEVER rely on the software to "do the job" It is an excellent aid and catches many things that might have been missed, but it cannot add my numbers correctly if I enter them wrong. And, especially this year when the program puts weird entries where they never were before and adds dependents who have been on their own for years. How can you not in good conscience check every return?
  15. I have seen 87 clients so far; have a year when forms aren't ready; software is not dependable and if I get one more call asking if their taxes are done yet, I am sending them to Rita.......
  16. At the top of the Update report, there are are two tabs. One says Returns and One says Forms. Click on the Forms tab and it will show you the forms that were updated for any given date. It took me a while to find this; nice feature; maybe it was there in prior years and I just woke up.
  17. Just opened return for a client who is coming in this afternoon. Her return showed three dependent children. Her son was killed in an accident two years ago. Thank God I caught that before she came in. One of the daughters has not been a dependend for a while. In fact she got married last year and filed jointly with her husband. Just have to watch EVERYTHING! Really WEIRD!!!!!!!
  18. On occasion it happens. Reclick a few times and it stays. No pattern, though.
  19. I never sign out and only have to sign in if I have not visited the board for a few days or visit it on a different computer.
  20. Since downloading 12.9, the only REALLY noticeable problem I have is the inability to open more than one return at a time. BUT, that was yesterday. The program is so unpredictable that I don't know what to expect today. Pretty much able to work around most problems. I could learn to like this new program if it only were dependable and I didn't have to check every little thing.
  21. You are correct.
  22. The box says "Check here to separate the state MeF from the Federal. I have not had any issues with state since I have been doing that.
  23. I could file WI right away but have found that it works better to separate the State from the Federal at the top of the State E-file Info sheet. There is a box to check. A couple of times WI rejected and I had to refile it so have done all of them separate since then.
  24. I was finger printed in approximately 1992 when I first started to do e-files through Parsons Tech and had to get an EFIN. Had to go to County Police Dept to have it done and sent to IRS along with application. In those days it cost $15 to file a return electronically; so consequently since nobody wanted to pay the fee, I filed all of my close relatives and myself electronically just to keep the EFIN. If you didn't use it, you could lose it. Things have certainly changed since then. There were recent rumblings that the IRS is considering requiring fingerprints again for certain preparers in order to obtain your PTIN. However, I imagine now that all hnges on how the IRS litigation turns out.
