Well, now isn't that interesting. I just finished watching it. Have to admit this is the first that I have ever heard of it either.
-
I love, love, love my 10" Android, and the rest of your post is true for me too. Am posting this on it now.

I am printing at full speed with an HP p2035. My OS is windows 7 64 bit.
-
That's exactly what my tech said, but my i5 Intel boots amazingly fast. Solid State is very pricey.
-
I never sign out either. I have noticed that if I am gone for a number of days and/or using another computer, it will require me to sign back in, but certainly not on a daily basis or if I am on the site every day or so.

I have not figured it out, but have another one coming up soon so am hoping that Tues update does something. I actually ended up checking the box at the top of the Sch H which says "Do not include this form in the e-file." Then the error went away. I filed the State without the H and am having the client mail that part in. At one point, I even tried to create the PDFs of the H and rent credit even though I had no clue what I was doing. Am sure I did something wrong because I added more than 1000KB to the size of the return file and it still would not go. Ended up duplicating the file and deleting the original. I deleted all of the H forms and put them back in clean. I wasted two days trying to figure out how to file a $40 Homestead Claim return. I can't charge this 84 year old lady for something that is not her fault. So, if I have trouble with the next one, I will file the Fed and WI and have the client mail the Homestead. I will furnish the envelope and stamp. Her Fed and WI returns did go through without it and I have ACKs for both. Woe is me!

That was my understanding of the situation..........I hope. -
I have gotten it to DD the state refund a couple of times, but don't ask me how. Am just crossing fingers and hoping clients don't actually read the letter.

Rita, I know exactly how far behind you are. My inbox is running over and I have spent two days trying to get a WI return to e-file. I finally filed the Federal and will sit on the State and get on to other things in the hopes of better things ahead. I have to agree with jklcpa that I have never had printing speed problems from the start and I have done nothing with my printer. (The print manager is another matter); have wasted a lot of paper and toner. Am now printing my copy on the back of the wasted sheets. Aside from that, FWIW, I have a brand new system this year with Win 7 64 bit. I did bump the Ram up to the max of 16G once we knew we were having issues with the program and returns opening. On the other hand, my laptop is two years old with the same system except that it maxes out at 4G Ram. The funny thing is that there isn't a noticeable difference in the opening of the Program or the returns. I have not tried to print with that one yet; which will be to a different printer, but also a HP. I don't have the time or money to shell out for a different program, nor do I want to. Losing ATX would be almost like losing an appendage. I have to believe that they will get it fixed. That belief is based on the fact that I have been able to complete three returns (simple, of course) from creation to ACK. Have had to do some workarounds, but that is nothing new. -

That sounds to me as though, as of now, it is a matter of choice. Therefore, my certificate stays on the wall. I have to say, however, that "I did it and I'm glad". The old clients are impressed and say they are proud of me. I had a new client call yesterday and ask if I was a CPA. My answer was "No, but I am a Registered Tax Return Preparer". He said, "Oh, all right!" and set up an appointment. I do think that it matters. -
Teri......this is the return that is haunting me. Last night after the update that error message went away about PDF attaching the property tax receipt. Tonight it is back and nothing I do gets rid of it. I duplicated the return; deleted the old one, updated, and am pulling out my hair. Finally just went ahead and filed the Fed and will try to fix the WI. Any ideas?

My client is 84 and I am not trying to use Fee Collect. Does the system go into shock when it sees an 84-year-old lady with two W2s. I feel bad for you as well, but am glad it's not just me.

Same here and I was surprised to see that it opened this year by clicking on the refund/tax due as always. I have been quiet and trying to get some work done, but am running out of gas. Just when you think you have one thing figured out, something else goes wacky. I am trying to send an e-file for a new client that creates without error in the return. In the E-file manager it says "Created" but after numerous tries to transmit it, shutting down, changing things in the return, rebooting, etc. it is still coming up with RED errors in the transmission that say an error has occurred that has prevented this transmission. Hardly slept last night because of this as I have already transmitted other e-files and gotten acks back. Any ideas anyone?

Update your program. It is working correctly now. However, none of my e-files are going through all of a sudden.
-
I'm getting it this afternoon and I don't have any of those forms in mine. Filed one this AM that is already accepted.
-
I have just been manually unmarking all of them. I have wasted so much paper on useless forms and worksheets this year. Do not have time to look for solutions.
-
What you have to do is click on "Mark all Files" which will allow you to print the list. Then, if you like, you can unmark them.
-
Hi Teri........have not tried one yet, so no help here. If one comes in today, will try it right away and let you know.
-
Did you try jumping to it from the Additional Child Tax Credit line of the 1040. I have no clue if that will work for you, but sometimes we think a client qualifies for something and they don't.
-
I finally found it by typing "Client Mailing" into the Forms Lookup box. It is WAY far from perfect, but will do until I figure out how to access it through the Print Manager. (And, yes, I did read that part of the manual this afternoon and also watched the video; but something is not sinking in for me). Could it possibly be too many things on my mind? One client came in a snowstorm tonight to pickup his payroll reports just as I had sat down to eat my noodles and cheese. Had to shovel his way to the door. What is wrong with people?
-
I got a Fed ack from this AM. Yay! Yay!
-
I am still having trouble with this. I cannot even find the cover sheet to print it. As I said, I always use Custom. Do I have to choose a print packet in order to get the blankety blank cover sheet. (for the client) I only use these for the small returns which don't get the fancy folder, but so far, that is what I have. I know I am missing something, but what?

Everyone isn't as conscientions as we are. Also, some of these "characters" file their own and claim the child before the taxpayer with the right to claim gets a chance. Second filer gets a rejection and has to paper file and let the IRS decide who they are going to believe.
-
I think that is in reference to situations where both parents are trying to claim the same child and they figure the one who files first will get the exemption. These are usually EIC situations and one or the other or both taxpayers might lie to the preparer as to who the child lived with., etc.

I told mine that if he would just keep the dishes washed, it would be a big help. However, he just keeps going to the bakery. He is the one with the sweet tooth and I have no self control when it comes to lemon filled doughnuts. I also understand what you mean about hubby stopping into the office, taking a chair and wanting to visit. The other thing is "I am going to ''''''''''; do you want to come along?" because I know that if he asks me to come along that means that he needs my help and wants me to. Or, he thinks he is getting me out of the office for a while. You have to love them.
