  1. The 1096 / 1099 does not have a signature form.
  2. What is his income. Look at the carryover worksheet, he might not have used any of the carryover this year.
  3. Yes I have had the same issue. Has not been a problem so far, but it does make me nervous.
  4. It is not IRS that is holding the returns , it is TRX. IRS is not accepting any returns with Sch A.
  5. But ATX does create a DCN, so print the 8879 get it signed and then wait for the 14th. At that time recreate the efile make sure everything is the same as the signed 8879 and send.
  6. Are you entering the account info. on the 1040 efile worksheet under refund options?
  7. We run over 40 payrolls. The bonusdoes not become an issue unless its rather large. Most of the small business payrolls that issue a bonus, issue less than $500.00. I would not correct this. However, if it was a large bonus, the employee may owe additional tax when they file their return. The employer should make sure to run the bonus check correctly in the future.
  8. Look up knowledge base #15811 on My ATX. I had the same problem and this fixed it. I tried to copy & paste it on this reply , but it did not work.
  9. His basis would not be zero. It most likely will be the same as his mothers basis.
  10. Yes that computer does have a modem and I have a 14" flat monitor on it and yes it is networked. This works very well for me. The phone line for the fax also acts as a 2nd line to make and receive calls.
  11. I have an old computer that is only used for receiving and sending fax's. The fax program is part of Windows and on my screen is called Fax Console. This computer stays on all the time, mainly to receive payroll information. I am not good with these things but I pay a guy that is good with computers. The only problem is if you want to fax a paper that is not in the computer , you will need to be able to scan it in. I have a fear of using a fax service because of clients information. I'm not sure who has access to those fax's wherever they are being stored.
  12. I have an old computer with a modem that I use for receiving and sending fax documents as well as for my employees to clock in/out. This works well for me. I can view the faxes and either print or delete. The fax console is part of Windows, so I did not need to purchase any software. If you are trying to eliminate the phone line for the fax this method will not help you.
  13. Ken, I'm glad to hear this. I like the ATX program. The problem I have with ATX is speed, printing and rolling over customized forms, mainly the letter. After I hit print it takes 30 seconds to bring up the print selection box. I've been testing Drake and the speed for calculating and printing is faster than ATX. Also, once you customize a letter you can roll that customized letter to the next year at least according to Drake. However, looking at both programs I plan to stay with ATX.
  14. I mailed a check today Eric, enjoy.
  15. If the income is hers regardless of the SS # , put it on her PA 40.
  16. The taxpayer received Jan & Feb SS payments, passed in the first week of March.
  17. Does anyone know if a taxpayer who qualified for the $250 SS payment in 2009 but passed away before it was received , would be entitled to it on their final return? Thanks for any assistance.
  18. Terry , I handled it exactly the way you mentioned. She is a Federal Goverment Retiree. I just wanted to have something in writing to support what I am doing. As you mentioned, it's not covered in the instructions.
  19. This individual was both a federal retiree and a SS recipient. She passed in March, her account receiving her SS payment was closed in April. She did not receive the $250.00. I am trying to find if I should include it on her final return. I did shorten the title of the credits name but thought it was still clear.
  20. On the CCH/ATX site they posted that there was a bug in this feature and they expect to have a fix soon. They disabled the feature when they discovered the problem.
  21. I have a client , deceased March 2009, Executor asked if the estate would receive the $250.00 Retiree Credit. I don't know the answer & haven't been able to find one. Sch M instructions, SS web site, & IRS web site do not mention an eligible deceased person. Does anyone know & if so can you direct me to where you found the answer. Thanks for any help!

    1099 misc

I believe the client who is digging the pool is hauling the soil to the other individuals property & dumping the soil. So he is paying for a place to dump the soil. It would be a business deduction. As far as a 1099, the receiver of the of the soil is not providing a service, so if they were to issue a 1099 I think it would go on other income.
  23. I have had one client call to let me know they received a call from UC that there would be a corrected UC-1099G. This does seem unusual.
