  1. Not these at least; she's been sending me stuff for my farm and those have to be sent on purpose. I'll let her know that folks miss her. Catherine

  3. And as much RAM as the machine will take.
  4. Well, here's something to set your hearts and minds at ease. True, KC has not posted here. However, she and I are "friends" on Facebook and while I haven't had any direct contact with her there lately, I just checked her page and it's full of postings of her doings in FarmVille and Cafe World and the other Facebook games. I think she's just taking some time off and puttering on anything NOT tax-related. She seems to be OK and I'm sure she still loves us. Catherine

Another battle to fight. Let's stop the hemorrhaging first, and get to the lacerations later. Sorry for the mixed metaphors. Getting a bit punchy here today; just told someone the wrong exit to take off the highway and then had to talk him back through the non-intuitive recovery from the bad directions. And I've "only" been here 7+ years. Sigh.
  8. YES, I successfully filed a return with an AGI of minus a couple thousand dollars, just about three weeks ago.
  9. I had some folks with negative AGI; we e-filed. They had to submit the 1045 on paper, though.

No word yet on my paper-filed PTIN request. They've cashed my check (could tell that courtesy of the bank). I'm a bit busy today to look into it, though.

Yep. So make sure you go vote on 11/2. Anyone with the notation "incumbent" after their name is a good candidate for firing. I've heard that some places are getting pressure from incumbents to leave that OFF the ballot, to protect them and their jobs at _our_ expense. Once we get rid of the worst of the oath-breakers, we can start working on getting in more people with integrity and principles, who will respect the Constitution and work to restore it. Eventually we can get to the point of repealing amendment #16 (and #17, and big chunks of #14, as well). Anyone notice that the media has been utterly silent on the 38 black Republican candidates running nationwide? Doesn't fit their world view, I guess. Frederick Douglass center link
  12. Well, that'll be fun when the can't-be-e-filed returns get rejected by their systems. Get some popcorn ready for the fireworks!
  13. Sometimes the local reporters can get action when no one else can. Public humiliation and loads of bad publicity/image ruining can work wonders where principle and integrity fail. Good luck and let us know how it all turns out!
  14. Wherever you got the dress, it looks gorgeous on you! We're going to an extremely formal wedding ball in early November. Couple does historical reenactments of various centuries, and requirement was for "formal attire of the century of your choice". Bride is wearing an entirely hand-sewn, cream silk, sacque gown similar to the one here Sacque gown . Only hers is more elaborate. My younger girl, Gwen, is wearing a formal gown from the 60's, I believe -- it was the bride's (now-deceased) mother's. I had to re-make it to fit Gwen (bride's mother was about 7" taller than Gwen and the whole bodice had to be re-done), plus repair properly some ill-done mends of an earlier time. Fiona will wear a gown I made for a formal affair I attended when I was about 28. My husband will wear formal kilt attire and hopes to have his authentic antique Scottish basket-hilted sword repairs finished in time (they're going to do a sword arch entrance). Between late clients and the remaking of Gwen's dress I've run out of time for myself and am having a dress made in turquoise silk two-worm dupioni. I did, however, make the corset that goes under it. Now if I can just find the time to finish out the _trim_ on the corset. Yes, there will be pictures.
  15. THANK YOU!!! I needed that laugh.... I have one client from whom I just need confirmation of bank info for direct deposit. Two more that promised info but I don't think I'll get it today. Roughly eleven more where I have NO info yet. So it's starting to look like I have only one to finish by tomorrow.
  16. Fabulous pictures!!! (LOVE your purple dress!)

  20. This is why, every year, I warn my clients that there are last-minute computer glitches. It does get _some_ of them going!
  21. Congratulations to Gail!!!!!
  22. Patents come under special rules allowing legal expenses to be taken on Schedule C with no offsetting income for years. I found the code section I need elsewhere, thank you. And the tithe info was indeed just for planning purposes, although someone elsewhere recommended legally giving 10% ownership to the charity before the sale, to save the client the capital gains tax on that 10%. Depending on what it gets sold for, that savings could be substantial.

  24. _Excellent_ point on the elder abuse angle!! That will surely get their attention.
  25. Yikes! My sympathies. I think I have three (nasty ones) left for which I will probably get info in time to finish. Another half-dozen or 8 where I am certain that the folks will _not_ get info to me by the end of the week. Latest twist here in MA is general confusion over whether the extension due date is 10/15 or 11/11. Lots of counties in MA and a bunch of counties in other states (all of RI) got 4/15 extended to 5/11 due to flooding this past spring, and apparently the IRS computers assigned due dates of 11/11 to some folks who were then _told_ 11/11, so now word is spreading among the populace that there is extra time. The IRS refuses to either confirm or deny; I directly asked the local stakeholder liason and she gave me an answer that could be read either way. I'm ignoring the possible 11/11 date. Never got my summer lull this year and if I don't get a break after 10/15 I may up and quit in disgust. I have piles of papers that need (but didn't get) sorting and filing and I just can't face the holidays -- and then another tax season!! -- without those being dealt with. On the bright side, since I'm waiting for info I got seven quarts of pears canned today. Catherine
