  1. I have split a whole shopping center between two unrelated individuals. The one that is my client also split other properties with other people, each person a different individual. I simply split income, assets, and expenses between them. The client then gave copies of his schedule Es to the affected individuals for them to prepare their taxes.
  2. I tried the chocolate thing but it didn't work. The keyboard got all gummed up.
  3. I think that the problem is that language changes and young people speak a different language than older people. Almost all IRS pubs, assembly instructions, etc are written by people younger than me. An example is one time my daughter told me that her son went through a road block and got a ticket for not having insurance. I thought she meant that he drove on through the road block withhout stopping and they chased him down and gave him a ticket. She meant that he was stopped at a road block and got a ticket. Small differences in words can make a difference, and young people and old people look at those differences differently. Our language is constantly changing.
  4. >>If taxpayer is young, the IRS will wait. They have 20 years.<< I thought it was 10 years. I may (probably) be wrong.
  5. c: 50
  6. >>i before e, except after c, or when sounding like a, as in neighbor and weigh. EXCEPTIONS: Neither leisure foreighner seized the WEIRD heights.<< This is why I hated english in school. I hate exceptions. Two plus two always equals four - at least it did unitl I took engineering in college, and found out that 2 plus 2 euals anywhere between 3 and 5. 2.0 plus 2.0 equals anywhere between 3.9 and 4.1. 2.00 plus 2.00 equals anywhere between 3.99 and 4.01. You can't win.
  7. You can purchase W2 Mate for $39 for the basic program to print on the preprinted forms and another $25 for the option to print lazer forms or $90 to e-file. The program prints both W2s and 1099s. The program is very simple to use. They also have other options. I think their URL is www.w2mate.com. If that isn't it, you can google "W2 Mate Software".
  8. For the very few who ask, I let them pay me when they get their refund. If anyone doesn't pay, I figure it is more of a problem for them than it is for me. I'm sure there have been a few in the past that haven't paid, but I really don't remember.
  9. I have one where I file the injured spouse on every year and he always gets his full refund, but all the refund is due to tax he has paid in. If the other spouse has a refund due, the IRS will take it.
  10. >>IT"S FREE!!! Why not try it<< How free will it be when your clients start getting their idenity stolen?
  11. Seems like I remember that way back, first time e-filers had to get their refund check by mail. I'm sure thats not the case now. I had completely forgotten about it.
  12. Jack, can I borrow your calandar. Mine is broken.
  13. The online version of Tax Book does come with TaxSlayer.
  14. This Danwil guy must either be stupid or think that we are all stupid.
  15. Terry, I had to ask for a discount. It may be to late now since you have already purchased it, but it is certainly worth a try. $170 is certainly worth asking for.
  16. I too had to give up and purchased TaxSlayer. I got the $995 Classic program for $825.00. They are familiar with the TRX problems and are giving the $825 price for those coming over. I talked to Jody Jones at extension 312. I just puchased the program and don't know anything about it yet. At least the TRX program is not a total loss. I'm able to use the 1099 module for 1099s. I think I paid about $200 last year for a program to prepare 1099s.
  17. >>they purchase the TaxWise license at ~$500, so MainStreet must be taking a loss this year by offering it at $350<< Watch out! No one sells a product for less than they pay for it.
  18. Thank you Cathy.
  19. Thanks Kea, I hadn't noticed that. I'll look for it next time.
  20. >>I just downloade it and it was done in about 10 min, I only have DSL<< George, it took me about an hour. Must be the satalite, we are having bad weather right now. I sure wish I could get cable where I live. They sure are churning out the downloads now. This makes 3 during the last 24 hours. >>The description mentions fixing one of the items I mentioned (well complained about) in my previous post.<< Cathy, where do you find the descriptions?
  21. I'm in the process of installing update 4.0.0.17 and it looks like it is going to take more than an hour to download it. The same thing happened last night with 4.0.0.16. Are the downloads taking longer now or is it my computer, or maybe my satalite connection? I live in a rural area and can't get cable or DSL. Just wondering if others are experiencing this.
  22. Kea, it might work to put your PTIN in the box for the SSN. I haven't entered my SSN anywhere and my PTIN does appear where it is supposed to although it does have a dash between the 2nd and 3rd digit.
  23. There may be a problem with the autodelete with this version. Last night I reset it and when I went out of the program, my computer locked up.
  24. As I said - enough is enough! I have nothing else to say.
