  1. I would love to hear you convince an auditor.... Moving companies and truck rental companies, given notice in advance, can have a truck or trailer anywhere anytime.
  2. Their there they're, it will all be ok....
  3. Not deductible. If he had rented a trailer, rental would be deductible.
  4. First, a very appropriate size retainer.
  5. 10.1 should say... "Thou shalt have not other tax pro before me!"
  6. I call it stick-em-puckey.
  7. Sorry, can't import a return or part of a return to another. You must open the 1065 return as a brand new return. Copy and Paste will work with two returns open at the same time. Gotta start all over my friend.
  8. I'll bet MAS and all the others we are referring to, their home DVD player, Microwave and Stove are all flashing 12:00. This is not MAS, but they have printers but no ink or paper, and e-mail but have no idea how to use it...
  9. I call them at 2:00AM to be sure I can reach them.
  10. I don't use the letters. No one reads them anyway. Just a summary sheet.
  11. You have the automatic update settings in preferences set to start at a certain time. That is the only way it will start without you initiating it. Check every machine. Each login name must make the changes.
  12. 16BG on your server machine, if it is a 64Bit machine, is plenty. ATX has WAY underpowered the server portion of the program. At the firm, we are maxing out the ATX program server for hours at a time. Install Update 13.5.1 using the following steps EXACTLY. FIRST AND FOREMOST - I have had much smoother results by downloading the update file from the MYATX website and using it rather than doing the program update through the program. Smoother and faster. ABSOLUTELY update the server machine first and make sure all computers have the ATX2013 program shut OFF. a ) Regardless if the server is also a workstation or not, download the update file from the site. b ) Close ATX on the server if it also has a workstation. c ) Run the downloaded file. d ) When complete, if there is a workstation on the server, open the program and proceed as usual. 2. Wait for at least 5 minutes before updating the program on any workstation. The server will perform a total program backup and this will cause any workstations to receive multiple "server retry" errors till the backup is complete. a ) Update workstations one at a time. b ) Close the ATX program, c ) Run the downloaded update file. d ) After installation is complete, open the program and continue as normal. 3. Wait for at least 5 minutes before updating the program on another workstation. The server will perform a total program backup and this will cause any workstations to receive multiple "server retry" errors till the backup is complete. 4. Update each workstation following steps 2 & 3 till all have been done. 5. Once all the updates are installed, program should open and work as normal. This worked smoothly for the 10 workstations at the firm for me on Friday.
  13. The import option for fixed assets is grayed out. Did you install the FAM trial?
  14. I Master (de) formed it.
  15. I don't think ATX has the import capability this year. I just checked. You must have the Fixed Assets Manager so it appears.
  16. No exemption from filing. The medical costs out of pocket for her will usually wipe out any taxable amount. Client's POA is misinformed.
  17. Frikkin Banana Pudding is the best!!
  18. Here are my latest recommendations for program updates. FIRST AND FOREMOST - I have had much smoother results by downloading the update file from the MYATX website and using it rather than doing the program update through the program. Smoother and faster. If you have a standalone, close the ATX program, Then run the downloaded update file. After installation is complete, open the program and continue as normal. With a network: ABSOLUTELY update the server machine first and make sure all computers have the ATX2013 program shut OFF. a ) Regardless if the server is also a workstation or not, download the update file from the site. b ) Close ATX on the server if it also has a workstation. c ) Run the downloaded file. d ) When complete, if there is a workstation on the server, open the program and proceed as usual. This is the process I used yesterday afternoon and it went very smoothly. Since installing the update, no issues so far.
  19. I agree with JJStephens. The bank, as usual, is being lazy and taking the cheap easy (wrong) approach.
  20. I am still of the opinion that, unless the grant has specific requirements to be counted as income if certain criteria are not met, the excess above expenses are not taxed. Some grants and scholarships have those requirements. Federal Pell grants and scholarships have no such qualifiers.
  21. Another personal loss and no deduction. No need to report unless they received a 1099-S.
  22. Eligible expenses is the key here.
  23. Losses are only deductible if you have used the timeshare as rental property. Otherwise, personal loss, no deduction. Deed or not makes no difference.
  24. There should be no credit and why do you want the excess to be taxed? Grants cover more expenses than tuition and fees which are all that is reported on the 1098-T. ATX is not properly handling the situation when scholarships and grants are entered. They have been informed.
  25. Thank You for the verification that I didn't miss something!!
