  1. If we stop and visit with you this summer, is that business deductible too?
  2. The program is supposed to update to the latest version when you open the return. If your program is not doing that, a call to tech support is in order. There is a folder that should be deleted and then the program will re-create it. Problem will go away. I just do not remember where that folder is.
  3. For almost 2 full years now, I have been studying at seminars for several different venues. Getting training from only one source will not get all the information. And, webinars, while a good way to learn, are very lame in the ability to interact, ask questions and the ability to interface with other professionals taking the course. I stand fully behind my statement. Add to that the fact that the IRS keeps making major changes mid-stream about all this crap...

It stops the complainers in their tracks.

  6. I/we don't use them. Less than 1% of clients read anything we print and send to them. Waste of time. I print the client info page showing amounts of refunds and what is owed. That is all the info anyone cares about.
  7. I have not tried a 13 CO, but give it a shot. The worst that can happen is it is rejected because they will not accept it and you end up paper filing.
  8. Receipts and mileage logs are a rare thing for those that claim large donations. But, receipts and mileage logs make me smile as it shows legitimacy.

  14. No. At the firm, and in my practice we never did purchase the additional FAM. However, we have not had the situation where all the assets disappeared.
  15. You do not want to hear my experiences and opinions of "full-service" brokers and what they do for ("to") widows. Let me just say that their commissions for that month or year look VERY GOOD!
  16. Did you use the additional Asset Manager program for the years in question? (FAM)
  17. Kerri (now the total big wig for ATX) promised us this 3 years ago, 2 years ago and last year. So much for Customer Service. CCH still does not get it. Those of us that complain have been designated as "...a small subset of our customers..." and "...we cannot change company policies just to suit a 'small subset of our customers.'"

  21. Send your client to: http://www.irs.gov/privacy/article/0,,id=249802,00.html There is a phone number for them to call. You can be proactive and complete form 14039 to be included with the paper filed returns you must do. Someone has filed a tax return with their SS# as primary taxpayer.
  22. Getting TO tech support is the issue. All the "customer service" people that take the calls think they can look up the answer and fix it. Last call I made, over a month ago, took 45 minutes of talking to get transferred to the tech department. Took tech department 8 minutes to fix the problem. CCH does not yet get it.
  23. Have the clients call the number right away and follow their instructions. This is not a hoax.
  24. He can block her e-mails. 2nd nuisance problem solved. I have a list of 100 email addresses blocked.
