  1. Sorry: There is an easier way to get the exact version .NET version installed on your machine from a cmd prompt. Just follow the following instructions; Open the command prompt (i.e Windows + R → type "cmd"). Type the following command, all on one line: reg query "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\NET Framework Setup\NDP" (This will list all the .NET versions.) If you want to check the latest .NET 4 version. Type following instruction, on a single line: reg query "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\NET Framework Setup\NDP\v4\full" /v version
  2. I had to google how to find your .net framework version. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dotnet/framework/migration-guide/how-to-determine-which-versions-are-installed Does anyone know an easier way? Because this seems nuts. Edit: This seems more sane and is guaranteed to make you look and feel like a real techie: There is an easier way to get the exact version .NET version installed on your machine from a cmd prompt. 5. A friend asked if I knew any preparers in Delaware, specifically Dover, and I was hoping I could search or sort members by state, but I didn't see any way to do so. Of course, many members may not even have entered their state. Also, if you're near Dover, DE, or know someone who is, let me know, please. Thanks!
  6. Not trump, the IRS.
  7. The problem is getting sued and then having your lawyer tell you that you should have had different wording in your letter. I've seen letters from big firms that are 9 or more pages long.

  9. Did you download the update file from the website and then run it, or did you click the update program button in ATX? The former seems to work better.

  11. We were able to get it working over a Hamachi VPN. Best part is it's free.
  12. I've only done one where the partnership only had land and the land was sold shortly after the one partner died. If you're talking about different depreciation allocations to the partners, my guess would be a manual allocation of box 1 or box 2 on the K1.
  13. I don't know any lenders who prefer a paper copy. I've had lenders call to thank me for giving my clients a PDF of both the return and the records. It saves them a lot of time and gives them everything they need in a high quality format.
  14. https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/irs-confirms-tax-filing-season-to-begin-january-28 IR-2019-01, January 7, 2019 WASHINGTON ― Despite the government shutdown, the Internal Revenue Service today confirmed that it will process tax returns beginning January 28, 2019 and provide refunds to taxpayers as scheduled. “We are committed to ensuring that taxpayers receive their refunds notwithstanding the government shutdown. I appreciate the hard work of the employees and their commitment to the taxpayers during this period,” said IRS Commissioner Chuck Rettig. Congress directed the payment of all tax refunds through a permanent, indefinite appropriation (31 U.S.C. 1324), and the IRS has consistently been of the view that it has authority to pay refunds despite a lapse in annual appropriations. Although in 2011 the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) directed the IRS not to pay refunds during a lapse, OMB has reviewed the relevant law at Treasury’s request and concluded that IRS may pay tax refunds during a lapse. The IRS will be recalling a significant portion of its workforce, currently furloughed as part of the government shutdown, to work. Additional details for the IRS filing season will be included in an updated FY2019 Lapsed Appropriations Contingency Plan to be released publicly in the coming days. “IRS employees have been hard at work over the past year to implement the biggest tax law changes the nation has seen in more than 30 years,” said Rettig. As in past years, the IRS will begin accepting and processing individual tax returns once the filing season begins. For taxpayers who usually file early in the year and have all of the needed documentation, there is no need to wait to file. They should file when they are ready to submit a complete and accurate tax return. The filing deadline to submit 2018 tax returns is Monday, April 15, 2019 for most taxpayers. Because of the Patriots’ Day holiday on April 15 in Maine and Massachusetts and the Emancipation Day holiday on April 16 in the District of Columbia, taxpayers who live in Maine or Massachusetts have until April 17, 2019 to file their returns. Software companies and tax professionals will be accepting and preparing tax returns before Jan. 28 and then will submit the returns when the IRS systems open later this month. The IRS strongly encourages people to file their tax returns electronically to minimize errors and for faster refunds.
  15. Thanks! I've never cleaned my rollers. I'm guessing F1 cleaner is mostly alcohol?

  20. No, it goes on 8949 and there are two codes you'll need: one for expense of sale (E) and one for the exclusion amount of gain (H). And they must be entered alphabetically. If it's not a gain then just use the other code (O). https://www.irs.gov/instructions/i8949#idm140253094361072
