  1. Thank you!! I had been clicking on the word "reply". The old format had a bigger clicking area, I think. Combine that with a fussy mouse (trackball), and the times I tried I must not have been in quite the right spot. So I thought that facility was missing.
  2. Eric -- I've noticed one thing that I miss from the prior format. Maybe there's something I've missed, and if so please tell me! We used to be able, in the topics page, to click on the list of "replied" to see who had replied. That doesn't work anymore that I can see. It was handy when checking to see if I had replied to a particular topic (but wouldn't have been the last one and therefore listed as last reply). Sometimes I don't remember if I sent in a reply that I'd meant to send, and the quick list was faster than going though all the responses looking for myself. I'm not narcissistic enough to enjoy that.
  3. You will, Gail!! We'll be here waiting to cheer you on, too.
  4. Thanks, KC. Just posted a much-abbreviated version on Facebook after sending the full shebang to my girls. Neither of them can -stand- the whole Twilight series (good for them!), but they should still know.
  5. I did as well; FedEx dropped it off about an hour ago. It's the standard ATX; nothing says TRX about it at all. I haven't loaded it yet and probably won't until Friday at the earliest. I have total tax office (first time for more than Max) and we'll see how it goes. Catherine
  6. There are things in this world I really, truly, do not want to know.....
  7. Just wanted to wish everyone here a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with favorite foods and favorite people. I am SO grateful for all my wonderful colleagues on this marvelous board! Love, Catherine
  8. http://www.metacafe.com/watch/26291/blaupunkt/ Extremely cute; enjoy!!
  9. I did? Oh, wow!! I didn't even notice!! Now if I can just finally shake this miserable flu.... Doing much better but still exhausted and if I do too much (like yesterday) I end up with a nasty headache (like today).
  10. I've been pretty happy with my Brother HL-4070CDW color laser. The toners aren't exactly cheap, but the hi-yield ones last a good long while. It's fast and prints duplex (both sides), and networks. The one t hing about it I don't like is that there isn't a long warning time between "Toner Low" and when it refuses to print any more. My other Brother machine will print for -weeks- after the "Toner Low" light comes on; this one barely a couple of days. So a spare black cartridge, especially during tax season, is good to have on hand.
  11. WOW, Eric!! The new look is amazing. I'm sure there will be things that confuse me and hope I can figure them out without having to bug you too much. Thank you!!
  12. http://www.aicpa.org/download/cpaltr/2007_02/feb07.pdf Page 10 has the "official" AICPA take on the matter. If you're an EA, as I am, there's no question of "attest" functions anyway. So make sure you stay within your professional boundaries.
  13. My opinion (which is worth every penny you've paid for it) is to NOT do the letter. I've seen some very lively discussions on other boards, and pretty much all I can see as "do-able" is some version of "we prepared returns for X years for this client based on information provided by client. we did not audit or otherwise verify, blah blah". Basically, the lender wants your malpractice insurance to co-guarantee their loan. Doesn't sound like a good deal when put that way, does it?
  14. Client called with a question from an extended-family member. This person wants to get into "affordable housing" in Massachusetts and (they say) should qualify on income etc. They were advised to find and use an attorney to guide them through the process, and the one they were referred to wanted a retainer of $4,000 with pretty much no guarantees of anything. Their questions were a) do they really need an attorney for this?, B ) what kind of attorney to look for?, c) where to find those attorneys, and d) isn't $4K a bit much for this up front? If this lady -had- $4K, she most likely wouldn't need the affordable housing, after all. I have -no- idea, and said I would make inquiries. Hoping here for some general guidelines. Thanks all, and I'm doing a bit better today but still taking it real easy. Catherine
  15. Too late to do me any good!! I did tons of laundry on Friday, including bathroom rugs and all sorts of other "occasional" items. Ran up and down stairs all day and was just fine. 4AM Saturday...... oooph. Today even the -thought- of running up and down those stairs, -without- baskets in hand, is too much. Oh, yes, I'm taking it easy. In fact, I'm going to go take it easy some more, right now.
  16. Karen Lee -- Glad you are better. I've already cancelled everything I had scheduled through mid-week and will probably cancel more tomorrow. I'm sure not planning on going shopping or contra dancing! Bonnie, I will take your cautions very seriously and hope that your son recovers fully very soon. I got the "regular" flu shot as soon as it was available to the public -- probably six weeks ago. That leaves two options; either this is swine flu, or the regular shot didn't do squat. Many thanks to all for prayers and suggestions. Lion, I am learning to be specific. Juice. Toast. Chicken soup. The headache is lifting (hallelujah), and I came online to post a tale sent to me. Then I think it'll be time for another nap. Catherine
  17. How are folks on the forum doing regarding the flu? Has anyone gotten the swine flu or the regular flu? This question is suddenly near and dear to me, as I came down with the flu yesterday morning (don't know which variety, but I got my "regular" shot over a month ago). I have lots of sympathy for anyone else who's been through it. The worst part for me has been the unrelenting headache. And there's a small plug in here for sympathy as I'm not getting all that much TLC at home.
