  1. Have you looked at the e-filed forms listed on the 1040 EF "E-Filed Forms" tab and confirmed that the form in question was itself transmitted, at least?
  2. Take a break; you'll be glad. Start with the first - the second is even MORE amazing. the original: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NINJQ5LRh-0 the later: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qybUFnY7Y8w #1 - Treadmill dance #2 - Rube Goldberg

  5. Try this one next: My link
  6. It worked, all right. VERY funny.
  7. Yes, it is completely and utterly ridiculous when the info is -right there- already. There is an old joke that if IBM ran the Kentucky Fried Chicken advertising campaign, they would be touting the fact that they serve "Hot Dead Bird". I think IBM would do a better job than the IRS, though. ^_^

  9. Love it!! Here's one back for you: A sloth was walking through the jungle one day when he was set upon by a gang of vicious snails. The snails left him bleeding and confused at the bottom of a tree where several hours later he summoned the strength to go to the police station and report the assault. He was asked by the desk sergeant to describe his attackers. He replied, "I don't know what they looked like, it all happened so fast".
  10. I just entered a feature suggestion at MyATX. We can now import Sch. D transactions BUT we still need to individually enter filer/spouse/joint, and type of transaction -- individually, by clicking in each box. I asked if that could either be added to the import -- just two more columns; shouldn't be a big deal. OR, if we could at least use the up/down arrows to go up and down those columns. Clicking in each box in each column is madness when you have someone with a lot of trades. Already this year I've had two clients with 200+ trades -- and my big-trading client hasn't shown up yet. It's enough to make you go totally loopy. As if I wasn't close enough already!
  11. Don't think so -- closed out the account. Sigh. It's what I feared. They also closed a small IRA (~$800), so I'll use that amount. Shoulda let the kid take a loan, and then paid the loan off like the nice parents they are. But did they ask me first? Yeah, right. Thanks for confirming.
  12. Some folks took money from a 401k to make up a shortfall in funding kid's college expense. 1099-R says code 1, early no exception. Form 5329 has exemption for money taken out of an IRA for school -- does this apply also to 401k? Can't find the info -- maybe because my brain has turned to oatmeal after a very convoluted day. Thanks!
  13. Same as the ERO pin on the 1040 Efile info? YES. Why now!!???????? Because the IRS hates us and wants us to jump off cliffs?
  14. But if you don't you get an out-of-date form error. Grrr.
  15. I had a e-machines computer a number of years ago and it worked just fine until it just got so old that I couldn't update it any more (wouldn't take more RAM). And I wish I had kept the keyboard -- it was good, and I hate the one this machine came with. In fact, the little speakers that came with the e-machine we still have and still use -- turns out they work great with a couple of little mp3 players we own, and a digital recorder my daughter uses for her violin lessons that only has a headphone jack and no internal speaker. An extended warranty plan is a good idea with any business machine, though.
  16. My re-submission (and a new return, as well) was just rejected. Guess I'll put in my name etc and try yet again. This is NOT the kind of aggravation we need this time of year. Even if the IRS made the change, CCH should have a fix for us. Catherine
  17. My first guess would be to back it out on Line 21.
  18. House stepped up in basis as of DOD. Hard to believe that after selling costs there was any gain considering the real estate market this past year.
  19. Had an e-file rejected -- message was mis-match between status of "may we discus" box and info in fields below. Specifically, it said that if there was a -name- in the box, then they wanted phone and PIN. But if it was "preparer" in the box, then they wanted NOTHING in those two fields. Well, it WAS "Preparer" in the box and there was indeed -nothing- in the other two fields. I put "preparer" in all-caps (as the reject error message had), put my PIN in the PIN box and then deleted it (in case there was a space as a 'character' in there), and re-submitted. We'll see. Anyone else getting these -- and if so, how are you dealing? Catherine

  22. And for running memory-hogging programs, don't forget to max out on the RAM.
