  1. Naps are woefully under-appreciated. Twenty or thirty minutes can make the difference between yawning your way through an afternoon of getting almost nothing done, and really making headway. I love naps.

  2. I took one on Monday, but it is worn off. Just had to thank my husband this morning for all the help and support that he has been this year. He doesn't know how to turn on a computer, but he sure is good with a broom and a shovel. Not complaining about erratic meals is the really biggee.

  4. I have a client who refused for years to e-file. (Client is a computer systems security specialist.) Once she found out that the same info gets input, by hand, into those same IRS servers (with the possibility of input errors), she let me e-file.

  5. I need more caffeine today! Daughter-in-law arrives at midnight tonight with her laptop so we can sit down together Monday morning to get their partnership and personal tax info before she heads into NYC to visit friends for the day. Have a complex return to complete by Tuesday when clients return from FL but leave the next day for Italy; they take it home and both pour over every line before mailing it (he's a banker and will not e-file nor do direct deposit). They live over an hour away, so I don't want to have to reprint and deliver to them because I made an over-tired typo. Hubby's watching March Madness basketball on TV, but I'm feeling March Madness!

  6. I had sort of a time out yesterday because I had three clients in here picking up who apparently needed to chat, I mean spill their guts, with somebody. I was completely worn to a frazzle from this nodding and listening and not saying anything. But, evidently, that's what they all needed. When it got quiet in here, I just looked around, told myself, "I'll think about this tomorrow. After all tomorrow is another day," got my purse, went home, ate Bojangles chicken like there was no tomorrow. But there was, so I'm back.

  7. The total of the g/l of all of them is about $1. If, for some reason, a notice arrives, I will deal with it then. They have completely disposed of the holdings so don't think there will be bad vibes in the future. Thanks for replies!

  8. I know that's not an issue here. It balanced last year, and I have the QB detail, but I'm not seeing it. Yuck. And I really really hate daylight savings time. I can't say that enough.

  9. small amount of money that is probably what I would do. But does she and the bank know that POA is done at time of death? right way would be estate return because over 600 dollars requires return.

  10. AFTER the first trip of the day, all the mileage in between business trips that day, but NOT the trip home at the end of the day. Trips beginning &/or ending at home or a personal place are commuting. The trips between students are business. Keep a log!

  15. Small plugs are Distributions (or maybe Loans to/from Shareholder for those who did track their distributions) figuring they had something personal on a charge card or used a personal cc for business. Large -- extension and back to client. Had one long ago that had way too much in bank; after lots of questioning, she had put her personal refund into the business account as the company needed the money and forgot to note it anywhere. Cash is what cash is, so if you reconciled the bank/cc accounts or client did, then you know whether difference is income or expenses. Hand it back to client to explain the difference -- after tax season.

  16. $11K is a pretty big plug. Do you have her bank statements and the method she uses for tracking during the year? Might be an extension project. If I am off a small amount, I will plug sales or supplies depending on why I'm off, but never more than $100.

  17. I'm going to have a forced break starting in about an hour. My BFF is coming over to have her return prepared while she goes over to town to pick up some supplements for her horse. This is the one return I do as a waiter. I only see my BFF about twice a year now and told her no time for a visit. That means she'll only stay about 2 hours. I think I'll go make some chocolate muffins and put on a fresh pot of coffee for us.
