  1. Try one of these handy replies for when you have no idea what she said: Who, me? Have I told you lately how much I love you? You're adorable. Have you lost weight? I love that top. You should wear it more often. I'm sorry, I was thinking how beautiful you are. Can you say that again?

  2. Yes, he already mailed the check for 2013 error to the address on the Notice. That was job one. Thanks, Jack, for the advice on how to charge, you know I love you. Since he's a new client, and the kind of client I REALLY love to get, there will be no scolding. Only love, or the appearance of same. He was very well organized, just late. I like November work. They moved here from a higher cost of living state, had an error on previous EA-prepared 2013 return, has pension, SS, investments. I just matched the 2013 fee, and after the $5 poke from ATX, I'm still $45 ahead of what we charge in Hickville, TN. We're all happy, happy, happy.

  3. I laughed when I heard that Viagra could cause 'decreased vision and hearing' because I thought to myself, that's not due to the drug but normal for men who are sexually aroused.

  7. Well, so will writing a check for 2013 and mailing it to the address on the Notice. He owes less than $900 on 2013. I don't know that it would "hit" quicker to let them take a portion of 2014 refund, but three or four days longer is not going to break him. I care more than he does. Pretty sure.

  8. I just wanted to warn anyone that is planning on submitting returns. I know that this should be in the efile forum, but I didn't see much activity there lately. There is a problem with the EFC site. There are numerous posts on the ATX forum and I have called and talked to customer service. I transmitted a returns on Monday and it still says 'transmitted to EFC". They won't or can't tell me if it has been transmitted or not. I thought it would be fixed yesterday, but now they don't know when it will be fixed. I don't even know if it affects current returns being filed or just a few days.

  9. I have been wearing hearing aids for about 20 years now. They help but are not like the original hearing. Reminds me of a joke. Two old men were playing golf and one said, "it sure is windy today." The other thought for a moment and said, "no .. today is Thursday." The first replied, "yeah, I'm thirsty too. Let's stop at the club house and get a beer." That is pretty much the way it is when you are hard of hearing.

  10. OK, with that I learned something new tonight. I had to look up why anyone would take this orally and found out it's a vasodilator used to treat high blood pressure. All these year I thought it was only a topical for thinning hair. I shouldn't be surprised because several of my dogs have been on sildenafil (Viagra) to treat pulmonary hypertension, as that was its original use. The vets tell me they are always pleasantly surprised when they don't get the all-too-common giggling when first prescribing it to new pet owner patients.

  14. I transmitted a 1040 late Wednesdday. Thursday morining I received an IRS matching error reject. I immediately fixed the error and retransmitted Several hours later I received my acks. So, I haven't experienced these issues. The most interesting facet of this is that ATX has posted zero responses to the user posts on the ATX Board. The last 2 years it seems like ATX has adopted a Public Relations style of responding to problems i.e. don't acknowledge any negative stuff!

  17. Recently I learned to look directly at my wife when she talks to me, no matter what I'm doing at the time. I think I've learned to read lips because she is a low talker, but she will blame me for not listening when I get it wrong, which I don't argue, I know better. If any of you have any advice I'm open to it and it is greatly appreciated in advance, could save a life.

  19. Mail the payment now. File the 2014 in late January. Don't forget that ATX will charge you $5 for each prior year return you file. Raise your rate and tell him why...

  20. I would file 2014 ASP. Those 2013 interest and penalties will continue to accrue, and the refund will at least stem the additions. I cannot begin to understand why people just ignore IRS notices. Do they really think that throwing them away, into a drawer, under the car seat, is going to make the mess go away? Had one client who hadn't filed for 6 years and probably threw away 60 IRS notices until the IRS levied his paycheck. Got him all caught up--too late to collect $8k in refunds but he did get $10k for the open years. Never opened the envelopes with the checks and had to have them reissued after they expired (after I contacted him when I got the IRS notices, which I did open). Guess he got so used to ignoring IRS mail he ignored the good stuff. Three years have passed, and every year I get a frantic phone call from him to file an extension please. He still hasn't filed for those three years. Guess I won't see any tax docs from him until the IRS levies his paycheck again.

  21. My husband times the reading of the side effects, sometimes it's 3/4 of the commercial. I hate taking meds that are advertised, because then I'm hearing the side effects all the time!

  22. Now that is funny! Glad it's over and I can continue to be amazed at all the side effects, from the drugs I mean.

  24. When I think of the old days doing returns manually and charging such low prices I think the clients were really getting a bargain. But then again a slice of pizza was only a quarter at Salerno's. But today maybe you make exceptions for the little old ladies who love you, the low income clients, like postal retirees with very little, if any SS, or a HOH with a disabled adult child just making it by. These are some of my clients that have been paying un adjusted pricing for years. You get it back, the little old lady that says I love you and sends homemade cookies, the postal worker who always adds $10 to my bill, and the single parent who says she wishes she had a son like me. For all that, I'm happy what I charge them. But all the others, they pay full freight and like it or lump it, it is what it is, they mostly all stay because they realize the value in your work.
