Even though I managed to obtain my E.A., I still have my RTRP and AFSP certificates on the wall in my office. It is an indicator of my willingness and intentions to always be at the forefront of knowledge and compliance.

There is much confusion about "data breach" and "e-mail hacking." Two totally different and unrelated issues. Yet everyone treats them as the same. I continue to use e-mail regularly. My largest problem is clients not checking their e-mail more than once a week.
-
None of the programs work as they are advertised to do. Save your money and continue entering as you have in the past.
-
Please cite for me one instance of an individual's e-mail being "hacked" and the document attached being stolen. Encryption of e-mail has the same basis in concern as man-made global warming, and Y2K.

I sent you a message.

How successful has anyone here been at getting companies to correct 1099 forms? If they don't know how to do it to begin with, how do you get them to correct them. We have about 2% success with getting them changed.

This has been the IRS position for decades.

This rejection only happens with returns that have been created since last season.

Doesn't work. The e-file page must be the 2015 version. Tried it. My instructions are correct and work every time.

ATX and the IRS allow 2012, 2013 & 2014 e-files to be submitted until Nov. 21.

When I open Form C-EZ and input income, Schedule SE is automatically opened and populated. RitaB is right on the mark again!!
-
Agree with JohnH. If there is any chance he will do the work for them again, add SE. Use Schedule C-EZ for simplicity.

Each office must have a separate location license. Licenses are address specific. Anyone who tells you different is asking you to break the software licensing rules established by CCH. Attempts to use VPN and other such methods will be discovered by CCH. The ability to check those things has been integrated into the software starting with 2014. Each office must have a user license for each computer that will use the program. Contact your sales rep for exact pricing and details.

2014. It may also be taxable for 2014 as well.

Yes. All housing allowance is subject to SE. Any housing allowance amount greater than the fair rental value of his home is also subject to income tax. The fact that he is part time does not affect how these are calculated.

Power of Attorney for unpaid, non-signing preparer
Jack from Ohio replied to Semibum's topic in General Chat
Form 2848 will be of no benefit. Even form 8821 won't allow you to talk to the IRS about the situation. John H has given the best advice for you. If the initial letter to the IRS does not solve the issue, she may need to provide more documentation and/or find an E.A. to represent her. For the record, any return you prepare after 12/31/15, unless you have an IRS issued designation (AFSP, E.A., CPA or Attorney) even if you have a PTIN and sign as a paid preparer, you will not even be able to talk to the IRS about your client's return at all. If you intend to continue preparing returns, earning your Enrolled Agent status is the way to go. -
Sales tax on the ATX product - robbing you with a pen?

Sales tax on the ATX product - robbing you with a pen?

I am waiting for more than just a brand new 1 post member's word that CCH is practicing things that are illegal in regards to sales tax. For the record, I heard that Drake does not submit all sales tax collected. (sarcasm alert) It is a very serious charge to levy in an open forum that everyone here is instantly believing. A person logs on as a new member, starts throwing serious allegations about a company with nothing more than "...said..." and "...he told me that...." with no facts to substantiate it. Call me skeptical. Call me not willing to fall gullible to another troll with a grievance against CCH. Seems I am in the minority. -

Just let me know when CCH/ATX changes their sales tax policy. -

Sales tax on the ATX product - robbing you with a pen?

The value of the time I would waste chasing this small amount far exceeds the small amount. It is a cost of business. There are two dozen far more important details about tax software than the $80-$90 (or less) sales tax on the price. Minutia Will you chase this for all states? Or is this just you and your state. -

I see no reason to be complaining here. ATX does not pocket the sales tax, your STATE does. Same rule applies to everyone everywhere. If the cost of the sales tax makes the software unaffordable, you are shopping in the wrong department, or need a class in business budget management. .
