  1. Maybe she has a tardis...
  2. I agree with Michael. Here is what I would tell him: "Since my fees were for the preparation of the return, you received services for my fee. The fact that you chose to use another professional to make changes does not change the fact that you received the services you paid for from me. Your choice to not allow me an option to correct an "alleged error or omission" indicates that you were willing to take on additional expense based on someone else's judgment." "Therefore, there will be no refund of my preparation fees, as you received full benefit for them." "Good Luck with your new tax accountant." Anytime a client takes my work to someone else without contacting me first, they end up as former clients. I do not tolerate them second guessing me without contacting me with questions.
  3. Ditto what Abby said AND we have been e-filing since Jan. 20 with no e-filing issues. Some issues with new State regulations, but that is not a software issue.
  4. I am not an insurance agent. Have the taxpayer contact his employer and ask for documentation that the plan offered to him met MEC. If the employer indicates that the plan did meet MEC specs, then the taxpayer is out of luck. It is not likely that the plan did not meet MEC. Obamacare regulations require that any employer provided plan be MEC compliant. The person at the marketplace has no possible way to determine if the plan offered by the employer is MEC compliant or not. There is missing information in this story. It is not our place to police the insurance part of the law. I refuse to do so.
  5. Judy is correct.
  6. Beautiful boy there Bob!!! Let the spoiling begin!!
  7. No pics? Being a Grandpa is the best thing in the world!!
  8. The form has nothing to do with e-file. E-file sends only lists of data. We have mailed in several with that watermark and have never had one rejected. There is no way to print the forms without the watermark till the State approves ATXs version. We have this issue with Ohio every year for the past 7-8 years. "Because you are filing early, the State of (insert state here) has not yet approved these forms for paper filing. The numbers and information are all accurate." "This has no effect on electronically filing your return." This is not rocket science...
  9. This is why I never transmit or send W-3 forms till the end of February. This allows time to correct mistakes and avoid W-2C and W-3C.
  10. Check the box. When client gets copies of 1095-B and 1095-C, put copies in his file. All done.
  11. Open your 2015 program.
  12. I can prove this to be true in any court in the land!!!
  13. You can set the print order. I am not sure where the settings are, but you have complete control over it. Try dragging the form to the place you want it. This is just a guess as I have not researched it.
  14. I have already been saddled with enforcing the government's insurance laws, with no option to refuse. I will not go anywhere near helping someone use the marketplace or deciding what insurance they should buy. Too much exposure to people pushing blame on me for their bad choices, mistakes or intentional misdirection by entering incomplete or fraudulent data. I have enough to do taking care of my clients' tax concerns. I simply say NO.
  15. With all the chaos surrounding Forms 1095, do you REALLY think the IRS will be willing, or able, to crosscheck this information? Why do you think they keep making extension of time to file for all the parties involved, and said that if the taxpayer gets a 1095 that does not agree with what was filed, amendment is not required? There are a couple of old military terms that fit the ACA/1095 debacle. Since this is a public site, I will not use them.
  16. Just wait till your client list gets bigger... The "boop" sound is new. However, when working on tax returns, I keep the volume down very low or muted. Also, the sound is not unlike other sounds for e-mails, messages on facebook etc... I will work on a .wav file for everyone to put in their computers for that tone. That is a WONDERFUL idea. I might just add the file to my next e-mail to tech support as well...
  17. This error does NOT indicate which child is being rejected. If you only have one child on the return, it is the child the reject code is referring to. When there are multiple children, ATX will usually highlight the SS# of the child involved when you first view the reject code. I take a screen shot with the error at the bottom and the highlight circle around the indicated SS# and print it.
  18. In Return Manager, click on the Forms tab, then choose Customize Master Forms. Add the 1040EF form. Go to the checkbox to decline and check it, then save the return. This will cause it to always be checked on any returns you open in the future. This feature can be used on any form where you choose or input exactly the same thing every time. I use it extensively.
  19. I use ATX and skip the Accuwage test. Over the past 4 years, I have accuwage tested 30+ W-2s each year for upload and not a single one ever had an issue.
  20. It will only be for one year. When they return for tax year 2016, a price increase is in order. I call those kind of clients "retreads." I raise my cost to them a bit closer to what they paid at H&R. At this point, I have approx. 225 clients and 25 are retreads.
  21. No. Part A is only hospitalization coverage. Must have Part B to be in compliance.
  22. In the Rollover Manager, click on the Rollover tab. Then double click on Form fees.
  23. These puns are dog gone funny!!
