  1. Yes. There are permanent notes where we keep extensive info on the client, from the trivial (nicknames) to the crucial (don't forget state subtraction for ...). And there are review notes that must be cleared before you can finalize a return. We print the permanent notes to the back of our 'job sheet' for each return and check them off as we do them.
  2. It needs work:
  3. Anyone have a chance to try this:
  4. Click on the distributions line of M2 and press F6 to jump to the reconciliation. The tab is called Sch M-2 (1120S) - Retained Earnings.
  5. Highlight the form you want to move and press Ctrl+ up or down arrow. You can permanently do this in print packet edit as well, but that only helps new returns... unless you uncheck remember, print, close, re-open and print again (check remember at this point).
  6. Can this be translated for me, please?

  8. This is already my favorite new TV show! Can't wait for the next episode.
  9. You mean backup. ATX backs up a return every time you close it. On big returns I take advantage of this and close every 30 minutes or so. It's a good time to take a break and give ATX a rest too.
  10. The scholarship was likely used for room and board.
  11. I have never seen an 8801 credit because almost all of the AMT differences are permanently disallowed items like taxes and misc itemized.
  12. I don't think it matters. The IRS seems to treat 1120 and 1120S the same. I've noticed that when I have POA for one or the other, I can access both forms on eservices.
  13. The final payment in 18 will be income to the extent of the gross profit % on the installment sale (and possibly some interest income?). That income will increase the basis.
  14. I was talking about a 1040 with a K1 input form. The 1120S basis always calcs but you have to check a box at the top of the K1 to print it. Basis should be mandatory so we don't have to opt in.
  15. At the bottom of the K1 input screen, assuming you've checked the calc basis box.
  16. At the bottom of the K1.
  17. We don't blame microsoft nearly enough when we have problems. Still slays me that Gates became a billionaire selling this crap!
  18. "* fu= Send return"
  19. You would win that bet! I could probably make it curse though!
  20. One of the best choices I've made recently is scripting several of my main passwords. I don't even know what my password for ATX is but my script always types it correctly!
  21. This appears to be caused by using a blank template return that you duplicate for new clients. Every one ends up with the same SID. If anyone knows how to generate a new SID without having to efile and then have it rejected, I'd sure like to know! Thanks!
  22. Only when last year was standard deduction or sales tax was claimed.
  23. Cash distributions in excess of stock basis (not AAA, because AAA doesn't matter in non-E&P S corps) is a long-term capital gain. We've all done these many times. ATX basis worksheet handles it pretty well. I think we're done here!
  24. Old Jack, I think you have too much knowledge and you've managed to confuse and out think yourself.
