Greenville, Ohio

Origin was Fort Greenville where General "Mad Anthony" Wayne negotiated the Treaty of Greenville between the tribal confederacy and the United States, which was signed on August 3, 1795. The treaty gave most of what is now Ohio to the United States, and cleared the way for that state to enter the Union in 1803.

My house/office sits inside the original boundries of the fort (That may win you a trivial pursuit game someday...)

Birthplace of Annie Oakley (We have a statue of her at the end of Broadway)

The MaidRite sandwich shop. (Known nationwide for the gumwall on the east side of the building and the best ground beef sandwich east of the Mississippi.

Our city is mentioned in the song "Comin' To Your City" by Big and Rich.

Birthplace Zachary Lansdowne, Commander of The USS Shenandoah the first US zeppelin to be produced by the Navy.

Count seat of Darke County.

Home to the Great Darke County Fair. By far the best county fair in the country.

Approx 40 miles from Janitor Bob. (I saved the best for last)

Isn't Greenville also the horseshoe pitching capital of the world?

There is also a world famous Carnival Glass Auctioneer in Greenville.

I've been in your town numerous times even thought it is 5 hours from here. Next time I might have to look you up!

Hmm

My original home town of chicago:

The Chicago Fire

Al Capone

The St Valentine's Day Massacre

Besides Blagojevich:

Nine men have served as governor in the past 50 yearsin IL. Two — Democrat Otto Kerner and Republican George Ryan — were convicted of crimes they committed while in office. Democrat Dan Walker also was imprisoned after he left office, but for crimes unconnected to his tenure as governor. And Republican William Stratton was indicted for tax evasion in connection to his use of campaign funds, but he was ultimately acquitted.

Now for the current home of Las Vegas:

1. All things MOB! (oh yeah, chicago too)

2. Gambling

3. Benjamin "Bugsy" Siegel (Flamingo Hotel)

4. The Strip

5. Wynn

6. Mayor Oscar B. Goodman, Lawyer to the MOB! :

(OK THIS ONE NEEDS MORE EXPLANATION - he represented defendants accused of being some of the leading organized crime figures in Las Vegas, such as Meyer Lansky, Nicky Scarfo, Herbert "Fat Herbie" Blitzstein, Phil Leonetti, former Stardust Casino boss Frank 'Lefty' Rosenthal, and Jamiel "Jimmy" Chagra a 1970s drug trafficker who was acquitted of ordering the murder of Federal Judge John Wood. His most notorious clients was reputed Chicago mobster Anthony "Tony the Ant" Spilotro, who was known to have a short and violent temper. In the semi-factual 1995 movie Casino, the character of Nicky Santoro was based on Spilotro and was portrayed by actor Joe Pesci. Goodman had a cameo appearance in the film as himself. Goodman also represented former San Diego Mayor Roger Hedgecock, who was convicted of accepting illegal campaign contributions and eventually forced to resign.)

And we though Ex Gov. Blagojevich was bad.

Salem, OH (small town between Youngstown and Alliance)

Salem has some old homes that were on the Underground Railroad.

It's the birthplace of Alan Freed (rock & roll disk jockey).

And lots of empty/foreclosed homes and more empty factories monthly.

Close to Ponderosa Park (Country Music campground).

Oh, yeah, also is in Jim Traficant's old congressional district.

Not terribly promising, is it? Of course my real hometown is Sheboygan, WI, where I lived growing up.

Except for tourism, which is dramatically down, things are pretty bleak in WI too. :dunno:
