Yeah, and I bet there are people who didn't even know about the button at all. Like me. Hey, I love this hovering over a topic and getting the opening post. Two thumbs up.4 points

Good grief Rita. And I thought I had clueless clients. Good grief ! I see I am listed as an advanced member. I am sure it must be my age.4 points

Same here... and I also like that there's a tab on that same popup to view the latest post too.3 points

I have no problem with the circles. Although there are days that's what I feel like I'm running in.3 points

I don't have time to look it up, but if I remember correctly, it's changed to once per 12 months. For example, you cannot do it once in December and do it again in January. Also, the limit is once in the 12 month period no matter how many IRAs you have.3 points

Jump to first unread should still be there... the little dark circle to the left of the thread should do it. Also, when you hover over the thread title, a card will pop up giving you a glimpse of the first post. There's also a tab on that card to get a look at the latest post. See attached screenshot. In the Forum List, General Chat, ACA, etc, the icons on the left show whether there are threads with unread posts in them. In the Topic List, all threads with unread posts should be bold. See attached screenshot.3 points

I can have 3 returns open in the same screen. Not multiple copies of the program running, which is the only way Drake will do that. I simply click the tab to change returns. PRICELESS for those of us in Ohio. MFJ and both MFS open at the same time.3 points

This is a major version upgrade, everything looks different. Don't freak out! This is the second major upgrade we've had since the ATX Community went online. First, before anyone brings it up, of course I noticed that everyone's profile pictures are broken. I've fixed a whole pile of issues over the past couple days, but this one is mostly cosmetic. I'll take care of it as soon as I figure out the best way to go about fixing the issue. A couple notes: There used to be a username and a Display Name for each account. The username was used to log in, and the Display Name was shown next to your posts. Username has been removed in this new version of the forum software, and you will need to log in with your Display Name or email address along with your password. I have a feeling this is going to cause a lot of confusion at first. The forgot password feature should get you sorted out, but if you're still having issues, you can email me directly: [email protected] In the new forum software, the Friends feature has been replaced with a Following feature. Members can no longer add other members as friends. However members can follow other members and receive notifications when the members they are following post.I can't even begin to highlight all of the changes, but I have no doubt that there are other little bugs that I haven't squashed yet, so feel free to send me an email (see above) or PM if you run into problems.2 points

The MyATX link is on my list of things to add. We're kind of starting from scratch with the new version, so there are some things that will have to be re-done. As for the white space, I thought you might mention it. I wish there were some easy solution, but the design isn't my doing, it's just how the software looks now. More white space, larger text, larger buttons... that seems to be the the trend these days. As it becomes more important to support mobile devices, you see websites optimize for big fingers on little screens.2 points

And we are back! Looking good Eric. Appreciate all that you do to keep this community from becoming dysfunctional. We can handle that all by ourselves. Great job!2 points

I am sure it has to be there and I am just a dufus for not seeing it. I like being able to go straight to the last unread post in a thread. Where would I find that button on the new forum? Tom Newark, CA1 point

No, JB, Judy's cite is what you need to dispute this, but you need to act fast or they will be a) trying to get their money back, which is always slow, or b ) get the IRS Lien off, which is always slow, plus will harm their credit score even after it is removed.1 point

I agree, but now I'm tempted to re-crop the image to center the spiral I couldn't believe the hate the circles were getting on the software vendor's forum. Anyone who feels that strongly about circles has deeper issues than we can help with, so I think the circles are here to stay. Glad the small style changes helped... it's amazing the difference a few very subtle changes can make. I agree that everything kind of blended together before.1 point

OK, I've read every IRS "clarification" about this and all your comments. Think I've got it. It's a lot of money for this client, so wanted to make sure he can put his early April distribution back in within 60 days no matter what he takes out in the future. Hopefully, he has enough sources of funds to get him through until the new job starts. Talked with client and his broker and emailed broker the various IRS links also. Some of the IRS info was old info that was edited after the one-per-year clarification, so reads rather awkwardly and a bit ambiguously. With a lot of money at stake for my client and my rep at stake with the broker, I didn't want to get this wrong. Thank you very much to all of you.1 point

She sent the proper response and got them to drop the S/E tax assessment didn't she?1 point

I would encourage your client to do anything else i.e. interest free or low interest credit card advance, borrow from whomever , etc .1 point

Thank you SO very much, Eric! I could not believe how much I missed the forum while you had it off-line. I do miss the "preview" of topics and the ability to jump to the first unread. But that's just me being picky.1 point

I've changed the MyATX link for now, and I'll wait for a little more feedback to see if it should stay that way. I'm wondering if people have their logins "remembered" on MyATX, they my not need to go to the login page every time. I've fixed signatures, no need to change anything on your end.1 point

Refresh the page and let me know what you think. I tried to make the changes are subtle, but hopefully enough to visually separate things a bit.1 point

http://www.irs.gov/uac/First-Time-Homebuyer-Credit-Questions-and-Answers:-Basic-Information JB, this is from the page linked above: Q. When do I have to buy a new home to get the credit? A. The credit is available for eligible home purchases after April 8, 2008. You must enter into a binding contract to buy the home before May 1, 2010, and close before July 1, 2010, in order to obtain the credit. For a home you construct, the purchase date is considered to be the date you first occupy the home. (11/19/09) Reference is IRC sec 36(c)(3)(B) that says "A residence which is constructed by the taxpayer shall be treated as purchased by the taxpayer on the date the taxpayer first occupies such residence."1 point

Thanks, Eric, for once again doing so much for this community. As Yardley mentioned the first glance doesn't seem too drastic. Two things I did notice: there is a lot of extra space at the top with the placement and size of titles. I would personally prefer to see a longer list of the topics below and less blank space at the top. Then I noticed the absence of the MyAtx link. I would occasionally use that convenience. Is it gone for good? It was a amazing how much I missed seeing this site most of today. Guess it is very integrated into my daily life. Thanks again, Eric, for making it all possible!1 point

I switched to Drake three years ago, but this forum is still the home page on my browser.1 point

Drake has allowed this for years, with no appparent slowing down of the software when running multiple returns windows. In fact, right now I have 5 2014 returns open, all screaming along.1 point
