  1. I disagree per IRS audit, and CP2000. Dealt with this several times in the past, by taking the client's word about the amount of Alimony. Please show me your cite?
  2. This can be set up in EFTPS. The automatic recurring payments can be set up there as well. It is the responsibility of the taxpayer to make sure the payments are made.
  3. In order for your client to deduct payments as alimony, the divorce decree must specify the amount to be considered "Spousal Support" or "Alimony." Any other funds give to the ex are just distribution of marital assets. Must be specific, and must say that the payments will continue until death. It can also say" "Re-marriage or death", but the "until death" must be part of the requirements.
  4. Hard wired totally here. All wireless devices have the wireless functions disabled. I have a separate router, on a separate line for client use in the office.
  5. Calling is a waste of time. There is nothing that can be done to speed up the process.
  6. Grouping does not work for 1099-R forms. I don't know if the IRS system will be looking to match each W-2G for dollar amounts or not. Charge per entry. "This is the extra cost of winning."
  7. If you input the date on page 2 of 1040, the date is locked on all forms. The complete box is not needed to lock the date. Using the complete box in the e-file manager, allows me to sort by complete and incomplete when marking e-files to transmit. Using the complete box in the Return Manager, prevents any changes to the return, by putting up a verification box that you intend to make the changes, before it is closed. It is a great safeguard when reviewing or seeing what certain changes may do.
  8. The employer needs a better payroll person!! There is a specific place to send the garnishment, and a specific way to treat it in the company books. Both sets of knowledge seem to be lacking.
  9. Still simply WRONG! Business money should be moved to the ex spouse's personal account, then paid to the proper agency. NOT from company funds. My statement still stands.
  10. That picture is form an episode of "The Twilight Zone" in which the little boy controls the whole town because of he evil powers.
  11. The payer is being an A _ _ H _ LE!! The payer should be dragged back to court.
  12. Not nearly enough information to give an informed answer.
  13. SARCASM ALERT!! I have not even logged on that board since the shut down fiasco. They have nothing I need.
  14. If they are not married, and they do not double dip, who cares who claims what deduction? She will probably not pass the standard deduction anyway???
  15. Form 982 with explanation.
  16. That is nice, but the 1099-C is submitted to the IRS. If it is not dealt with on the tax form, a CP2000 is sure to appear, as well as assessment for the tax.
  17. Was she still covered by her parent's insurance? If yes, leaving the box unchecked is correct.
  18. The lender is allowed to send 1099-C to all responsible parties. They are under no obligation to change that. (pretty low, if you ask me...) Taxpayers must indicate, on the tax return, that one is not legit. It can be a headache. I usually use Form 982 on the inappropriate return and include the information: "This income included on tax return for XXXXX XXXXX, SS# XXX-XX-XXX. It seems to prevent the inevitable CP2000.
