I have had one in Limbo since January.......too many other things to worry about right now.

Happy Birthday, Friend...... :bday:

I just mailed another one today!

I just had one call and say, "I'm bringing my stuff over right away on my way to town!" I said, "OK, I have appointments but you can drop it off." She said, "Oh, I'm so excited to find out what the results are!" I said, "Yes, you and 2500 other people!" Do they really all believe that we are just sitting here waiting for them to come in? She just came and while I was at the door, somebody faxed me their Sales Tax to file electronically. I am NOT going to let this get to me!!!!!!!!!

I can't get them to work either.......just like last year. Don't have time to fool around so am mailing them. I did, however, apply for an EIN since more and more places are asking for it. DUH!!!! Joan, nice reply on the CP2000 as I have 2 sitting here now. Thanks!

I had a client this year who had six inherited IRAs from his brother. They all went to line 15b as taxable with no penalty. I just checked the return. Each one had to be entered separately. Just looked at the 1099s and they all say "Taxable Amount Not Determined." They are coded 4 with the IRA box checked.

Catherine, my prayers are with you and your family; having been in your position many times. My Father came from a family of 11 and several of them lived into their 90s; including my Dad. My Mom also passed at 90. Sometimes, it is just time no matter how hard it is to see them leave.

Community Property State, they are ordered to split Jan and Feb; which is rediculous because he won't have any income and has no money to pay tax. This would be for 2009. No, her attorney does NOT know what he is doing. I spoke to him once and will not approach him again. He didn't even know that there was an early withdrawal penalty for the 401K. That is what I am trying to work around; that blasted penalty. She IS very angry, but she can't deal with him either. He was supposed to execute the quit claim deed to the home, which he didn't do. We spent 2 hours on the internet yesterday doing it ourselves so she could take it to the courthouse and proceed with her refinancing of the house.

I have had two of those this week. Both are for 2007; both are in regard to 1099R stock distributions not claimed and both want a reply by Apr 8. Just what we needed right now. I have had both clients gather info on cost of stock sold and have to prepare amendments also. One is a wash, the other is a loss. I haven't had time to read that far yet, but I guess I would send it where they want it sent or call them for further instructions. Maybe the info can be faxed. These are not actual bills; but rather requests for information. BTW: I am not allowed to be bored this morning.

Well, mine does all the time; way too often. He also sends flowers and other gifts. He brings me homemade piorogi and polish sausage. He was born and raised in Poland, and his church has a Polish Fest every March. He donates a great deal of the food. His is a quite poor parish and he has the biggest heart I know. Has been my client for about ten years now and keeps terrible records, so spend a lot of time straightening him out. Finally have him contributing to an IRA for about the past 4 years.

In Divorce Marital Settlement Division under Property Division: Note: If he is sentenced to 15 years and one day, she receives the entire 401K as well as his entire pension. This is in addition to almost all other assets. Note2: The decree is very specific as to the filing of tax returns for both 2008 and 2009 and there is no question of her filing MFS. Sorry to keep bothering all of you with this, but I feel that she has a legitimate QDRO.

Sara, be sure that you have the 8817 and the 8863 forms open in the return when you check those boxes. Otherwise it will not calculate properly. Also, check to see if any of your Midwest students were in flood zones in 2008 as they qualify for the extra credit. Many of mine were and I have had to print out FEMA maps for about 5 Midwest states now to find out if the schools qualify.

Don't forget his mileage. My "Priest Client" practically lives in his car what with hospitals, nursing homes, Masses at other parishes, etc. And then, there are gifts to parishioners.; as well as lunches. I always tell him that his parishioners should be buying him lunch, but he just shrugs and shakes his head.

Sara, it looks like you need the W-2S also. I have the all states book, so if you need more help, call me. I can always fax you copies of the pages. (I have nothing else to do)....... :spaz:

I don't have a problem opening the program, but since I updated, the tax returns have the creepy crawls. Every time I click on "save" I have to wait for the program to gather its thoughts. First problem I have had all year and this is NOT a good time.

Thank you, Wayne!

Did you print it from the 2007 program or the 2008.? Organizers for 2008 need to be printed from the 2007 program in order for numbers to flow.

But, isn't he still a Qualifying Child. He seems to meet all the requirements for qualifying child.

If her parents are paying the mortgage and RE taxes, there is nothing for her to deduct. The answer to your question is No.

Does your 1098-T for 2007 have a box checked at the bottom designating that the payments are for 2008 tuition? I have a situation this year where the parents paid the tuition in Dec, 2008 but the student didn't start school until Jan 2009. Payments are designated on the T for 2009 tuition and we will use them when we file the return for 2009.

Remember; a lot of us are "Older than Dirt!" I feel especially so today.

My understanding is that she has access to the funds to pay bills that she was left with. I know that prior to the divorce, she had to have signed permission from him to spend or sell anything (other than her wages.) I am waiting for someone to get me a copy of the divorce settlement. Her attorney promised to fax it to me, but he has not. I know that she had to pay both attorneys out of these funds. I so appreciate all of the interest and input I have received in this matter. The more I read about WI community property laws, the less inclined I am to think that she has an "out".

I got several state acks and a rejection on a Fed 1065. I think I'll just give up and mail 1065's rather than going through all the pain just like last year. I just don't have the time.
