  1. I just finished NATP conference for 3 days in New Orleans. Got all my CE. Done for this year.
  2. NECPA is 1000% correct. Huge liability issue and tons of penalty and jail time. Tax Attorney or let client do his own.
  3. I have clients with UN who always give me one page worksheet. I do prepare based on which is better i.e. standard or itemized. But they always want to see Schedule A just to make sure that standard is better. I always print Schedule A if standard is taken and give it to them. Never had problem.
  4. You are the favorite one. I use MAX and have IntelliConnect subscription but never got any CD.
  5. The way I understand it that she should have applied for the exemption from market place before filing the return. I am not sure weather it will work now as she signed the tax return with shared responsibility. I would suggest she goes to market place and try to file for exemption. if the system allow, she will get the confirmation and you can amend it. if system does not allow then probably she has to deal with IRS. I am sure she did NOT mention this before when you completed the return. Hope this helps.
  6. Not to Philly but going to New Orleans for a week in July and attend the NATP for CE.
  7. Does not matter weather practice is big or small, if lawyers involved, the bill is very high so carrying an EO always wins. We all have different insurance for protection. I always believe that hopefully never have to use it but......
  8. I always use MAX as even though small practice of around 100 mix returns. I always believe that a good software save lot of time in productivity and that is must for me. Yes it feels expensive but time saving pays off.
  9. I have Kodak ScanMate i1120 which scan 50 page front and back.
  10. Still people go there for tax preparation. I believe that you should charge enough for your hard work and training. I do.
  11. SCAM!!!!!!!!!. I have two client who always want paper check refund in NY. This year they both got debit card and upon inquiring found out that it was not sent by NY state. I told them to call and cancel it. they did and refund check came from State of NY. Lot of refund scam going on. Be careful.
  12. I always ask client to give me in writing or email me if they remember later on all the expenses. I will not put anything on tax return if I do not have supporting documents.
  13. At least they say that they have the return. I have one client in same situation and gave her the link to check at IRS.GOV as I cannot help any more.

    EXTENSIONS

I never file extension for the current client unless they send me email or fax me request.
  15. I am good with update also.
  16. I had one case but corrected already received few days back so I think I will be ok.
  17. Let me chime in; Would you please provide how the address info printed in the 1099R: Example One : Mom - Dad , Main street, USA Or Example Two: Son name, Main Street, USA If 1099R is showing Example One, Then 1099 R is correct. The policy made more in Interest/Dividend then the premium paid. Because even though the policy is on son name, mom or dad is owner and policy follows the ownership. If 1099R is showing example two, then son will get the 1099R and not parents. The way insurance industry works is that document will issued in the owners of the account name and not the insured. Hope this helps.
  18. Have you tried placing curser in the filed and then from menu, try restore field. Which will remove your email from the field. Then save and retype the email address. hope this works.
  19. I use secure drawer to send efile signature pages and final copy. No printing.
  20. The best I can explain is: (1) Your client had option to use dividend to pay the premium and if more then premium, then balance in cash. That is why dividend balance is 0 (2) The taxable amount is more then death benefit paid means policy made profit (earning) hence 1099R is issued for that. Yes it is taxable. Hope this helps.
  21. Thank you Jack. A little check mark did the magic.
  22. Only limited deduction based on age allowed. if you prepaid, you lost it.
  23. Hello Friends: Finally snow in NY is melting and recovering from February cold. But my mind is frozen: I have a client with child in college. 1098-T shows fees paid $4500 and Scholarship and Grants are $6500 in box 5. For AOC, ATX-MAX add both number and give full $1500+$1000 credit. Is this correct? Thank you,
  24. If he has original contract with him, the last few pages are the copy of the application. As a full time insurance professional, my educated guess is (1) one is some kind or rollover from either retirement plan of life insurance and the (2) is new money invested same as the rollover money that is why cost basis is different on both contract. Please review the copy of contract he has to see the copy of application at the end pages. Hope this helps.
  25. Why to remove the cable and heart other programs. Just uncheck in setting and do updates when you want it.
