In Return Manager, click on the Forms tab, then choose Customize Master Forms. Add the 1040EF form. Go to the checkbox to decline and check it, then save the return. This will cause it to always be checked on any returns you open in the future. This feature can be used on any form where you choose or input exactly the same thing every time. I use it extensively.4 points

I thought so, but boy it sure is nice to bounce a question like that out here on this forum just to be sure . Thank you!!!!!!4 points

The nice thing is, if you do this, it will be checked as you want it, but it can still be changed in any return by unchecking it in that return. Effectively, you are setting a 'default', but are still able to adjust if there is a special situation.3 points

She can file Married filing separate. To efile there is a special allocation form that has to be included in the return. The allocation form is 8958.3 points

For LOUISIANA returns: FROM THE POWER POINT PRESENTATION AT THE 2015 MEETING WITH IRS AND PRACTITIONERS (This is how it has been for as long as I can remember even though the E-Filing handbook only describes what to do when E-Filing a Louisiana return only.) WHEN E-FILING BOTH THE FEDERAL AND LOUISIANA RETURNS: If using a PIN, retain the Federal E-file signature Authorization Document, IRS Form 8879. (IRS 8879 serves as the LA signature document as well.) The LA8453 will be used as an information document when IRS Form 8879 is used. IF E-FILING LOUISIANA RETURN ONLY: The LA8453 must be signed and retained when a state only return is transmitted. Every once in a while, you discover that you did not make up things in your mind! I have been worrying about jail time as I have always followed what LDR has told us in the yearly meetings and haven't had but 4 or 5 Louisiana 8453's signed. I was elated to print out the power point presentation for my records as proof!!3 points

Thank you both. I found out what she was trying to do. She was trying to e-file using a free e-file online program that would not let her file because she is using more forms than just the 1040EZ. Deb I did know about the 8958 form and have to be sure she meets all of the exceptions to including her soon to be ex's income. Everything I have read so far indicates she does. We are being really careful here. We filed for equitable relief for a tax bill her ex owes and she was told we would hear something this month but we all know how the IRS is. She shows a refund and I don't know if the IRS will hold the return and the refund until they make decision. I know what will happen if they have ruled against her. With all the circumstances that led up to this, I don't see how they would hold her liable. But... we'll see.2 points

The last two years, all of my clients W - 2 s who had SIMPLE Plans (created in ATX) would not pass the Accuwage test. So I have been filing these W - 2 s with SSA by skipping Accuwage. No problems2 points

Good thing, really, so she had to ask you. This way she does not mess herself up just because she's in a hurry. We see that so often.1 point

I use ATX and skip the Accuwage test. Over the past 4 years, I have accuwage tested 30+ W-2s each year for upload and not a single one ever had an issue.1 point

I hope everyone has a successful season. We have moved to Ultra Tax. ATX was too slow and required too much work to get returns completed.1 point

I think this has more to do with the announcements Microsoft made at CES about the work they've done to improve efficiency and performance with new generations of Intel processors. It sounds to me that they're saying that they won't back port those advancements to Windows 7 from Windows 10, but that shouldn't be a surprise. My guess is that Windows 7 will continue to work on the new chipsets, but you won't get all of the fancy optimization that come baked into the latest version. Intel provides the drivers for their chipsets, and it's up to Intel which operating systems they want to support, not Microsoft.1 point

Look into it now, so you can shop for a good price on a replacement card. You want to have it and replace it BEFORE it totally dies, which is sure to happen at the WORST possible time.1 point

I would like to see one of those Intuit "genius" commercials tackle the ACA for a self employed person on the exchange and show how many iterations of the calculations they do to come up with the right amount of SE Health Insurance Deduction and Premium Subsidy. Lets see them explain that in a 30 second commercial? I keep thinking of the woman (sister of the client) who came into my office who "prepared" the prior year returns for a couple who came to me because they were under audit. The clients asked her to come in because they did not know the answers to any of the questions I was asking. The audit had to do with 5 rentals that were throwing large losses and the deductions for those rental losses. I asked her how she came up with the deductible loss on the rentals and she said "I just kept clicking on different answers in Turbo Tax until I got the highest refund". Tom Newark, CA1 point

BUSIFORMS.COM : a small outfit in Chattanooga. My print version (very simple/good) is $59.95. Efile version is also offered, but I don't know the cost. All good and true advantages. Hi Rita: Nice to hear from you again (and thanks for your support on fees the other day). I do the same as you do and while the folks above are right, I feel more in control this way since I dislike e-flinging (as JohnH would put it) figures into thin air . For some clients I get the 1096 signed and simply keep it until enough time for corrections passes and it's safe to mail (this probably won't work next time - I've heard IRS wants their copies by 1-31-17). But while they say you cain't teach an old dog new tricks, I've learned that IRS can MANDATE some and we'll probably have to get horseless carriages before long. Anyhow, I'm hangin' out in the Jurassic era until they come and GPS me. Best regards, BB.1 point

You do know, though, that you are still very welcome here. Not all of us use ATX but we all have tax issues and complaints and need the kind of support available here.1 point

NONE. Enter what you believe to be the actual information. The IRS has published information that says there is no need to amend if the 1095 forms, once received, do not match what was filed. This tells me that the IRS is not going to police this matter. The whole system and process is a pile of male bovine scat.1 point
